The Area

The Village

Flassan is a beautiful ochre village with a small square, fountain and lavoir.  There is a well-stocked grocery shop in the village, (which doubles as a depot de pain for your morning croissants) and there is a good selection of restaurants and shops and a market with local produce and crafts (Mondays) in nearby Bedoin (4 miles) and Villes-sur-Auzon (3 miles).

Flassan is situated approximately 30 miles north-east of Avignon.  It is 650 miles from Calais and approximately 1 hr 30 mins from Marseille and Nimes airports. 

The village sits at the foot of Mont Ventoux with stunning views of the mountain and surrounding vineyards, cherry orchards and olive groves.  The area is known for its clean air and blue skies making it perfect for painters and photographers (and star-gazers!) and of course, keen cyclists.

The property


Maison Booth is a privately owned property used regularly by the owners John & Jackie Booth and available for rental as a holiday home.

Two level house/villa is situated on the edge of the tranquil village of Flassan, at the southern foot of Mont Ventoux, 11 miles NE of Carpentras.

It is comfortably furnished and well equipped for summer rentals with two terraces, parasols, sun-loungers and lafuma reclining chairs.

Fridge-freezer, dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven & grill, combination microwave, washer/dryer, colour TV/VCR with satellite reception including UK channels which are free to view as well as French channels.  There is also a DVD player, Midi HiFi with Bose speaker system (inc. woofer), separate radio/CD/cassette player and a portable Bose iPod dock with remote control.

Changeover day is Saturday but if other days are requested we try to be flexible.

Living room  - with open fireplace, two settees, TV, Hi Fi etc.. ‘Porte fenêtres opening onto garden.

Dining Area - with table and 6 chairs

Kitchen  - open-plan kitchen in traditional Provencal style, well equipped with gas hob, electric oven and grill, dishwasher, double sink, storage cupboards and floating rack and kitchen/bar.

American style fridge/freezer with ice-making and chilled water on tap

Laundry Room - washing machine/dryer, double sink, spare bulbs, batteries etc. storage and second fridge/freezer (for owners use and storage).

Garage - not for cars (typical French ‘garage’), central heating and water boiler, storage for garden furniture, pool equipment, owners DIY etc. Plenty of room for bikes if you want to conquer Ventoux!

Garden & Pool

Sunny garden - with  two shady terraces, one leading direct to pool from kitchen door. Terrace with dappled shade under vine, complete shade under roof.  There are sun loungers, Lafuma reclining chairs and parasols provided.

Swimming pool - Approx 1.5 metres deep - no diving!  The pool is alarmed but not fenced, so not suitable for toddlers.  Please note that the garden is also not fenced.  The pool is normally open for swimming from early June to end of September (depending on weather conditions).

Garage & car port - plenty of secure storage for bicycles, etc. Under the car port is a good spot to park a car out of the sun.

BBQs - two, one charcoal in garden and one gas on pool terrace. The garden BBQ has the most fantastic views of Mont Ventoux while you are cooking!


Bedoin  (4 miles) has a good selection of restaurants and shops with a large Provencal market held every Monday, selling local produce and crafts.


Carpentras  (11 miles) has a larger selection of shops and hosts the famous Friday market (also Truffle Market from November - March).  There is a different market for every day of the week in nearby villages!

The lavender fields of Sault  and the stunning Gorge de la Nesque  are within just a few miles, whilst a little further afield is L'Isle sur la Sorgue , renowned for its antiques and brocante.  The hilltop towns of Gordes , Bonnieux  and Menerbes  in the Luberon are all within an hour's picturesque drive.

The Roman papal city of Avignon and the Roman amphitheatres in Orange and Nimes are also within an hour's drive.  The picturesque Mediterranean fishing village of Cassis is under two hours drive.

Drive (or cycle!) up Mont Ventoux and look out over the impressive 360° vista and down on Flassan  - on a good day you can see as far as the Mediterranean Sea.

The GR.91 long-distance path is close to the house and many walks and cycle routes can be taken locally (cycle hire in Villes-sur-Auzon or Bedoin).  The area is ideal for walkers, cyclists, artists and photographers.  There is a freshwater swimming lake with sandy beach in Mormoiron (less than 4 miles).

Whilst food is part of the Provencal way of life- wine is very important too!  Tour your way through all the villages whose names are so familiar - Gigondas, Chateauneuf du Pape  and Beaumes de Venise  to name a few, and taste wines from a variety of co-operatives and private vineyards throughout the Côtes du Rhone and Côtes du Ventoux region.

From Roman amphitheatres in Orange, Nimes and Arles to Mediterranean fishing villages such as Cassis  for a harbour-side lunch - it's all here for you to discover and enjoy at your own pace.

Some Must Do's whilst you are here!!  (in no particular order) 

All are within about 30-45 mins drive from the house 

  • ·Lunch at La Callade, Blauvac, a nearby hilltop village with amazing near 360 deg views.
  • Visit Aurel. A picturesque hilltop village overlooking lavender filed, close to Sault.
  • ·Visit Carpentras Market (Friday) - huge - or Bedoin Market (Monday) -The market at L'Isle sur la Sorge on Sunday morning is also definitely worth a visit.
  • ·Drive through the Gorge de la Nesque (suggest you go towards Sault then turn right for Monnieux and drive down the gorge towards Villes-sur- Auzon.  Wonderful views from orientation table before you dip down to Sault and again from top of gorge.
  • ·Drive up Mont Ventoux and have a drink on the terrace overlooking the village.
  • ·Look out for Golden Eagles - sometimes loitering over the village but more often over the forests.

Booking Conditions

To book

To check availability, follow the link on the ‘Availability’ page to our online Booking Calendar.  Reservations will be held for 10 days pending receipt of the deposit.

A deposit of 50% is required to secure the booking. This can be paid via direct bank transfer (preferably), via PayPal or via credit card (and normally in GBP Sterling (although if via PayPal we will accept USD and Euros). The balance is due one month before the start of your holiday. 

A ‘Security Deposit’ of £200 is required which will be returned the following week once the changeover cleaning has been done and providing there is no significant damage, additional cleaning or laundry necessary.  This can be via direct bank transfer or If you are paying via PayPal, the £200 can be added to your balance payment and we will credit your PayPal account after your holiday.

We operate a 60 day cancellation policy for a refund of the deposit. Cancellations less than 60 days will not qualify for a refund.

The house is furnished and let for up to six people. There are no additional costs for electricity, gas and central heating, linen or basic cleaning materials.  It does not include beach towels.  Linen is changed weekly.

Visitors are liable for any damage to the property or contents.  Cars and contents, luggage, etc, and all personal items are at owners' risk.

In order to maintain our high standards of cleanliness visitors are asked to leave by 10.00am on departure day and arrive after 4.00pm.
